FAQ’s for The Movie Database

Q. Why can’t I create a new record and add to the database?
A. The Movie Database if downloaded, is in a restricted mode without a password to unlock the features such as new record, delete record and paste.

Q. Once I enter the password into the database and change the password to a new password, do I still need to enter the password every time I use the program?
A. Yes, you need to enter the password every time when starting up the database if you want to enter new movies into the program or use the editing functions. If you leave the password blank you can still use the database but some functions are limited.

Q. What do I do if I forgot my password?
A. Don’t worry. You can still look at the movies you have entered into the program. You can use the export feature to export or back-up the movies into a separate file. Then you can download a fresh copy of the program from the web or copy the program off of the CD-ROM and use the original password that was sent by email to start the program. Once the program is running you can import the back-up file into the program. Remember to change the password to something you can remember.

Q. When I click on the "Find Movie imdb" button nothing happens, what is wrong?
A. Your computer must have Internet access and be logged into the Internet for this to work. You must also have an Internet browser set up as a default.

Q. I have tried to send an email to someone through the rental screen and it does not work, what is wrong?
A, Your computer must have Internet access and be logged into the Internet for this to work. You must also have an email program set up to be your default for the system. Not all email packages will work. Refer to the help about email for a list of email packages that will work or the manual.

Q. Will the program print labels so I can keep track of the movies in my collection?
A. Version 1.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 do not have the label printing finished. Version 1.1 will have label printing included. This will include a property label, spine label and information label.

Q. Will there be a way to quickly add information about people who borrow movies from me?
A. One of the upcoming versions will have an address book linked to the program to allow you to import names and addresses quickly.

Q. What was added to version 1.0.2?
A. Fixed import script to erase demo records and reset the record numbering. This is used more for when you are upgrading from an older version to a newer version. Sort buttons were added to the Movie layout for the following fields, Record Number, Movie Status, Title, Year, Rating and Genre.

Q. If I purchase The Movie Database now, what will the upgrades to newer versions cost me?
A. As The Movie Database is being modified and upgraded, upgrades will be free for all versions of 1.x. If there will be a Version 2.0, there will be a discounted upgrade price for those who have purchased any version of 1.x. Version 2.0 has not been planned.
